Description
Prior to every casting session, it is a good habit to check and maintain the level of the vacuum pump oil. There is a high degree of moisture in the investing process and as the oil becomes contaminated with moisture, the pump begins to lose its ability to pull vacuum. Therefore, vacuum pump oil should be changed every four hours of use to keep the pump working efficiently. Judging from the actual time used in the investment and casting process, this would mean that you should drain and replace the oil with new vacuum pump oil approximately every eighty (80) castings. Never use any oil that is not recommended for vacuum pumps.
