Carnelian Bead Strands Faceted Cushion.  Iron gives this form of chalcedony its beautiful orange-red color.  Carnelian ranges in color from yellow-orange to rich, near reddish orange, to orangey brown, and varies from semi-opaque to highly translucent.

Prized by ancient Egyptians, carnelian is thought to cool and purify the blood, thwart angry feelings, and enhance passion. Most commercial carnelian comes from India, but it is mined world wide. Gem-quality sources also include Brazil, Egypt, and Uruguay.
