Description
Borax Flux. 60% boric acid and 40% denatured alcohol yields an excellent and inexpensive flux. Add the boric acid to the alcohol until it stops dissolving and forms a thin paste. Dip the entire item into the solution, then dry it with gentle heat from your torch. Do this three or four times before soldering.
Safety Notes: For those in regular contact with products that contain borax, some safety tips include: wear rubber gloves; avoid contact with nose, mouth, and eyes; cover any open wounds before handling a borax product; keep products out of reach of children or pets; avoid breathing in the powder; wash skin that comes in contact with the product.
